Getting Involved in the Joshi Voice lab
The Student Research Experience
Gain mentored research experience in voice disorders through hands-on learning in assessment methods, recruitment, data collection, analysis, and scientific presentation—while building critical thinking skills.
Responsibilities in the Lab
Students are expected to complete lab tasks and work on individual projects throughout the week. Curiosity, collaboration, and active engagement with mentors and peers are encouraged
Before You Join

Minimum 3.0 GPA

Commit at least 5 hrs/week for 2 semesters

Attend weekly lab meeting

I’ve been part of the Joshi Voice Lab since my freshman year, and it’s been an incredible journey of learning and growth. Now in my second year and serving as a PURS fellow, I’ve had the chance to work closely with Dr. Joshi and Stephanie on hands-on projects exploring HSV, OCT, and OR images. The individualized mentoring, supportive lab environment, and opportunities to contribute to meaningful research have made this an invaluable experience that has strengthened both my technical and analytical skills.
