We’re thrilled to share exciting news from the Joshi Voice Lab!
Ruiqing "Stephanie" Fan has been awarded the NIH F31 predoctoral fellowship training grant for her innovative project, “Resonant Voice Index: Developing an Objective Acoustic Model to Quantify Forward-Focused Vocal Resonance.”

Stephanie’s work aims to integrate acoustic modeling with clinical voice science to develop more objective, evidence-based tools for assessing and training vocal resonance. This project reflects the lab’s broader mission to advance accessible and effective care for individuals with voice disorders.
This is the first NIH F31 grant awarded within the Joshi Voice Lab and marks an important milestone for our research community. It also represents the second F31 award for the Ph.D. program in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Houston.
